Capt. Owen Plair was born and raised on the waters of Beaufort, SC. He was fortunate to grow up on the Broad River. It is one of the most productive fisheries in the Low Country.

He obtained his Captain’s License while still in high school at the age of 18 years old in 2009. It led to his Professional Career as an Orvis Endorsed Fly Fishing Guide.

His specialty is sight fishing in very shallow water schools of Redfish at low tide. He loves to tail Redfish on the flood tide, along with cruising Cobia aboard his custom Maverick HPX-S.

Capt. Owen Plair’s professional career as a guide has taken him to renowned places like sports fishing with JacobWheelerFishing.com and Atlantic Salmon fishing in the Ponoi River, Russia. Owen also enjoys instructing new fly anglers. He teaches the Orvis National Fly Fishing School, and Redfish School for Bay Street Outfitters in Beaufort, SC.

During his career Capt. Owen has been featured in National publications including Field & Stream Magazine, Sport Fishing Magazine, Sports Afield Magazine, Atlantic Salmon Journal, Eastern Fly Fishing Magazine, South Carolina Sportsman, Hatch Magazine, and Southern Culture on Fly.
